Stevie was a Team BAHRAIN MERIDA stagiaire for the last part of 2018 season and will turn professional rider in 2019. He is a young talented Welsh climber and his talent was confirmed with the mountain stage win at the U23 Giro d’Italia, spending a day in the pink jersey as well. His aim is to gain as much experience as possible in the first year as a neo-pro.

Young talented riders like Williams are a very important part of our teams strategy. Together with the technical staff we have closely looked at where he will fit in with our team and we feel he will find the perfect place to start his professional career where he will get our full support.

“I’m over the moon to be turning pro and moving to the highest level of cycling, this will give me the opportunity to race the biggest races in the world” Stevie comments “I’ve looked up to Vincenzo Nibali for a number of years now, and to be able to race along side him for the next years is something special for me”.

Before joining Team BAHRAIN MERIDA, Williams was recruited by the SEG Racing Academy ahead of the 2017 season and developed into one of the best climbers in the U23 ranks.
