Solid Performance of BAHRAIN MERIDA Team on the Time Trial Stage
LA TOUR DU PIN – BOURGOIN JALLIEU – 23,5 km / TT – Stage 4
Bourgoin Jallieu, France, June 7th – Fourth stage of Critérium du Dauphiné was an individual time trial, where the experienced riders and specialists could show their unquestionable skills. BAHRAIN MERIDA Pro Cycling Team made a solid performance.
The fourth stage of Critérium du Dauphiné was an individual time trial on a mild, cloudy day, with a minor crosswind and overall good conditions for all riders. A mostly flat stage of 23,5 km had few demanding points where technical skills and experiences were needed. The trial started in La Tour du Pin with a long climb leading to Saint-Chef and further on the 5% climb, Demptezieu, with a rough road surface. Then followed a dynamic descent on which experiences of the riders made a crucial difference. In the end, Richie Porte (BMC Racing) defeated Tony Martin (Katyusha-Alpecin), the TT world champion, and got 12 seconds closer to Thomas De Gent (Lotto Soudal), the GC leader of Critérium du Dauphiné.
Janez Brajkovič commented today’s time trial: “In general, I am happy with my performance at today’s time trial and I feel optimistic. I think my shape is getting better. It was a hard stage, but a beautiful and fluid time trial.”
“Today’s time trial was difficult”, added Franco Pelizzoti. “Time-Trial is not my specialty, but I performed quite well and I feel good. So let’s hope we will do well in the last three mountain stages and achieve good results.”
