Guilin 168.3 km Medium mountain stage

Meiyin Wang stayed competitive even in the last race of the season. Our local hero joined the quintet at the drizzling start. Under the surveillance of sprinter’s teams and red jersey squad, they once built up a 4-minute lead but the bunch was obviously reluctant to let them go.

Last 5km to go, the break was reeled and we were ready for the sprint finish. Team Bahrain Merida once again showed ambition for the final WT stage with the lead-out of Chun-Kai Feng and Marcel Sieberg. Unfortunately, Phil Bauhaus crashed at the last corner. In the end, it was Pascal Ackermann(BOH) delivered the glory of the final day, and Enric Mas(DQT) secured his lead in general classification.

A brief comment from Meiyin Wang after his effort of the day: “It’s my third time joining the breakaway here in Guilin stage. I always try to fight for something in the race, more than just finishing it. We were in high spirit at the front whole day, trying our best for the stage victory. For me, the attitude is the most important.”
