Tour of California

May 12th – 18th

MONDAY, 13 MAY 2019

Rancho Cordova> South Lake Tahoe, 214.5km. High mountains.

The first day of climbing at Tour of California was a good test for Rohan Dennis, who went into the breakaway of the day and then finished in the top twenty, together with Hermann Pernsteiner in 19th, both finishing 38” behind the winner Asgreen.
“It was a hard, long day” the Australian rider says “It was my longest ride for this season. I tried to go into the breakaway. We thought we could stay away, but we got caught with about 25 km to go. That’s a shame. But I’m happy because my form is on its way up, that’s good for me. I went on attack with the group, I didn’t feel too good, but once I got into the rhythm of the breakaway, I got good sensations and I’m confident for the rest of the race”. Both Dennis and Pernsteiner are also in the top twenty of the general classification, with a gap to the new overall leader Van Garderen of around 40”.
