Tour de France

July 6th – 28th

Reims > Nancy, 213.5km. Sprint finish.

The Italian Elia Viviani won the 4th stage at the end of a decidedly insidious sprint with several corners and a very narrow stretches of road especially in the last two kilometers. With less than one km to go, Matej Mohoric together with Ivan Garcia Cortina were in the first positions of the peloton to pilot our Sonny Colbrelli but then, in the last few hundred meters, they lost their positions and had to settle for a placement in the Top 20.
“We were right back the team who was pushing before the last km – says Mohoric, today 14th – but then they suddenly slowed down and other teams reassembled. We found ourselves a little in troubles because it was me and Sonny, while Ivan was lonely on the right side. In the last kilometer, I recovered positions but it was too late to go for the win”.
Even Cortina is not satisfied with his 15th position: “After the “flamme rouge” – says the Spaniard rider – I found myself alone and then I couldn’t recover too much. Today, I was hoping for a better result at least in the Top Ten, it will be better next time”.
