The BAHRAIN MERIDA Team returns to ride on the Italian roads. On Wednesday, September 13th, the team will be at the start of Coppa Agostoni starting and arriving in Lissone, near Monza. At the heart of the ancient Lombard race the circuit in the hilly Brianza (24.5 km) to repeat 4 times with the climbs of Sirtori, Colle Brianza and Lissolo. The 2014 edition was won by our Niccolò Bonifazio. The next day, the Team will face the Coppa Bernocchi, another great classical Lombard race with departure and arrival at Legnano, north of Milan. Almost 200 kilometers with the riders who will have to face seven times the challenging circuit of the Valle Olona (16.7 km with the GPM of Morazzone). “They are almost classics races – says SD Alberto Volpi – and have often been won by great champions such as our Vincenzo Nibali who won the Bernocchi in 2015.

In addition to the two sprinters Bonifazio and Sonny Colbrelli, the Team will see the debut of three young stagiaires who will race for the first time with professional riders. For the 24-year-old climber Andrea Garosio is undoubtedly a reminder: “Being able to ride into one of the strongest teams in the world is a great satisfaction. The dream is that it can be done also in the future, but it will still be a great opportunity to exploit, above all, to learn and see how a professional is riding and how is living outside the competition”. Emotion also for 21-year-old Ukrainian Mark Padun, who won few weeks ago the famous GP Capodarco. “I thank Team Bahrain Merida for this opportunity and think about the start of the race excites me. I knew Bonifazio and Colbrelli will be there and so what I hope is to be useful to them and to the team to get the best possible result”. Last of the three debutants, the 25-year-old Andrea Toniatti this season winner of the Trofeo Alcide Degasperi. “I’m a full rider who feels comfortable on short climbs and has a good sprint. I am absolutely happy to be able to ride even if for some races with the professionals. I know better the path of the Agostoni Cup and the less that of the Bernocchi“.

To our three interns,” SD Volpi further emphasizes, “we will try to get into the breakaway and help our two captains: Bonifazio to Agostoni and Colbrelli, returning from Canada, who will only ride the Bernocchi“.

BAHRAIN MERIDA Team lineup for both Italian races is: Sonny Colbrelli (only Bernocchi), Niccolò Bonifazio, Chun-Kai Feng, Andrea Garosio, Ion Insausti, Mark Padun, David Per, Andrea Toniatti and Meiyin Wang (only Agostoni)
