Everything is ready for the traditional Marco Pantani Memorial, the race that wants to remember one of the best Italian cyclists of all time. This year’s edition will start from Castrocaro Terme to get, after 199km, to the Cesenatico’s seaside. The route is more challenging than usual with the short and steep ascents of Grisignano and Meldola in the first 40km.

In the second part of the race, the riders will face the circuit with the climb of Montevecchio (5km, average slope of 7%, maximum of 15%) to be repeated three times the last of which with 60km to go. A lot of plains in the final and arrival on the small town seafront.

Domenico Pozzovivo: “This year’s route is harder with several short but challenging climbs. The Montevecchio’s circuit will make selection and I would like to be in the front as it was the other day during the Giro di Toscana. The preparation for the World Championship goes on and I think I’m on the right track”.

Matej Mohoric: “I will run the Memorial for the first time. The route seems to me demanding and suitable for riders with my characteristics. My preparation for the Worlds continues well and the race on Saturday will help me to grow even now just over a week from Innsbruck “.

Giovanni Visconti: “My goal is to do well on Saturday and also on Sunday at the Trofeo Matteotti. I returned to the races after a period of stop and the feelings are growing. Race after race, I’m acquiring brilliance and pace and on Saturday I will give my best to help Vincenzo and to try to achieve a good result”.
