Strong TBM lead by Ion Izagirre ready for Swiss challenges
Team BAHRAIN MERIDA heats up for the Tour de France in the Switzerland’s famous and challenging cycling race: the Tour de Suisse (from June 9th to June 17th).
The 2018 edition of the Tour de Suisse starts on the 9th of June with a team time trial in Frauenfeld, while the nine-day stage-race ends with an individual time trial in Bellinzona. The Queen Stage takes in both the Furka Pass and Klausen Pass. It will be the 82nd edition of the Tour de Suisse and the twenty-fourth event of the 2018 UCI World Tour.
“The plan is clear” – says Sports Director Tristan Hoffman -“Our absolute leader for the GC is Ion Izagirre, but all our riders , Gorka, Enrico, Kristijan, Mark and Hermann should have opportunity for a stage victory. Sonny Colbrelli is TBM‘s top class sprinter and he is highly motivated as always. We will ride from day to day and our first focus is TTT (18 km) in Frauenfeld. Our goals and targets are podiums and the final one in Bellinzona and we have right to be optimistic for Ion to take the overall. Our squad is strong for that purpose, with riders that will give a great support for sure. Anyway, Izagirre is back from the Teide training camp – where he did a good work – and of course, on the Suisse roads he will uprise his competition form for Tour de France”.
