Rain and cold for the 73rd Dwars door Vlaanderen

Kortrijk, 26th March 2018 – It will be 181 kilometers that the riders will have to do, next Wednesday, to complete the 73rd edition of the Dwars Door Vlaanderen on a renewed route. The departure is set in Roeselare at the finish line in Waregem. Cobbles and “muur” will not be missing, including the double ascent of the Kluisberg and the Knokteberg which will be repeated three times.

After the last lap there will be only a little over 30 kilometers left and the riders will face the last stretch in pavé – the Herlegemstraat – with only 5km to go.

“It will be a super tough race – says Heinrich Haussler – the weather forecast gives heavy rain and temperatures close to 5 °. It will probably be an elimination race and I think there will not be many athletes coming to Waregem. I’m fine and I hope to be there in front in the final”.

“I’m happy to be here in Belgium – explains Niccolò Bonifazio, who came directly from Volta Catalunya ended yesterday in Barcelona – because they are races I’ve always liked. We must always stay in the first positions otherwise it is a moment to lose the wheels. We will have to be very concentrated “.
