Nice-Nice, 110km. Medium Mountain.

Good team work of BAHRAIN MERIDA on the final demanding stage. Teuns, Cortina, Colbrelli and Pozzovivo were in the large group day’s breakaway, then the Italian climber managed to stay with the best, leading the race until the final ascent, where Ion Izagirre attacked and soloed to victory in Nice. Pozzovivo finished 6th, in the first chasing group, 18” adrift: “Hard tempo today. It was a very fast stage. Normally I like this kind of stage. We were in the first breakaway and I stayed also in front all day, trying to recovery sometimes but it was very difficult. I think I have to be happy for this final stage and also the team, because we played good tactics today”.
After not a good day on yesterday’s stage, Dylan Teuns was feeling better today and he finished with the second chasing group (+26”): “It was pretty tough. In the end my GC didn’t end up as I wanted to, but yesterday I had not a good day. I’m happy that I had a nice race today and now I’m looking forward the next important races”. It was a nice race, pretty hard and tough due to the wind and also rain. Last stages were good for the team, really offensive. It was nice. At the end we know that we need to try for stage win, but it’s not easy, the level is really high. We missed a guy like Domen Novak. Unfortunately he crashed and was forced to abandon. With six riders is not easy to do something. I wish him a fast recovery. We do our best and I think we came out from this Paris-Nice with a good shape and for next races we will be ready to fight. The season is long”.
