Itzulia Basque Country

April 8th – 13th

FRIDAY, 12 APR 2019

Arrigoriaga-Arrate 149.8km. Mountain with 2 first-category climbs.

Tough day on the Queen stage of the Itzulia Basque Country. The penultimate stage was the first of the two decisive days for the general classification and unfortunately Baharain Merida captain Dylan Teuns dropped out of the top ten overall:
“It was a really hard stage. It was full gas from the beginning until the end. There was no time for recover and I had not a really good day, so I’m disappointed about today’s race”.
The Belgian rider crossed the finish line with a gap of more than 4 minutes from the winner Buchmann. The German rider took a solo win and he is also the new GC leader.
Tomorrow the final stage. Bahrain Merida team will be down to only three riders, because also Wang and Williams abandoned today.
