Tour de France 2017.

EYMET – PAU – 203,5 km / Stage 11

Pau, France, July 12th

Another day with a similar stage to the ones that we already seen on Tour de France this year. BAHRAIN MERIDA Pro Cycling Team left the beautiful Le Vieux Logis in Tremolat, with the great hospitality, for which we would like to thank the owner, Mr.Bertrand Giraudel, and all the hotel management and staff. It isn’t a surprise that the famous author, Henry Miller, visited this place almost every year.

Stage 11 started in Eymet on a partially cloudy morning, with dry roads and ideal temperature of 25°C. A very similar stage to yesterday’s and one more battle for sprinters at Tour de France. TBM did not change the strategy to bring Sonny to the front, or as Phillip Mauduit says before each similar stage: »Keep your eyes on Sonny, guys!« Borut Božič and Grega Bole are the ones that always do it and they’ve done it again today, with all the difficulties that Sonny Colbrelli had a crash before the last climb. But obviously it was a stress moment for Sonny and when he caught up the solid position few kilometers to the finish, it looked like he didn’t have enough power for the final fireworks.

Maciej Bodnar (Bora-Hansgrohe) was the rider that played a respectful role till the finish and kept his long breakaway to the very last kilometer.

And finally, when the sprinters got in the front for the turbo, Marcel Kittel dominantly showed that he goes for breaking the records on Tour de France. With a fifth one today, he has won more stages than any other rider in a single Tour de France. Chapeau Marcel!
