Carcassonne, July 22nd, ST15 – And with this there are four. In fact, with today’s, it’s the fourth time that a TBM’s athlete took the second place. This time – and it’s the second one! – it was up to Ion Izagirre to arrive behind the stage winner the Danish Magnus Cort.

“I would like to always win – smiles Ion – but I knew that Cort was faster. We ran well and in the sprint I tried to surprise him but he was simply stronger. Now the Pyrenees are coming and this is special for me. I will find my family and my friends and I would like to give them strong emotions “.

Domenico Pozzovivo arrived in sixth position: “We were three in the break – Me, Ion and Sonny Colbrelli – and then in the finale we stayed in two. The finish was not very suitable for climbers like me and Ion but we tried the same. In these last two stages I feel much better and I will try again to go on the run in the Pyrenees “.

SD Gorazd Štangelj analyzes the stage: “To win we would have had to risk more attacking with determination uphill. It’s a pity because we are often protagonists  in this Tour and therefore I’m happy with how we have improved compared to last year “.

Tomorrow second rest day. The Tour will continue on Tuesday with the sixteenth stage from Carcassonne to Bagnéres-de-Luchon (218km). It will be the first Pyrenean stage with a final three climbs including the Col de Portet-d’Aspet (5.4km, 7.1%) and the Col de Portillon (8.3km, 7.1%) with only 10km to go.
