Giro della Toscana

September 18th

Pontedera > Pontedera 204.4km.

Not a lucky day for Team Bahrain Merida at Giro della Toscana. In fact, a crash on the final downhill prevented Andrea Garosio to stay with the man at the front. The young Italian rider was able to continue but could finish the race only in the main group that came to the finish line around 1 minute behind the leaders, that attacked in the final climb.
“Too bad because at the top of the third and final ascent to Mount Serra, the gap to the four attackers was only of 10 seconds” Garosio explained a bit painful due to bruises, but happily, it was a crash without serious injuries for him. “A guy hit the deck ahead of me and I couldn’t avoid crash too. I managed to continue the race, but I lost too many seconds and it was impossible to retrieve”.
Team Bahrain Merida former rider Giovanni Visconti won the race, outsprinting Egan Bernal in Pontedera.
Team Bahrain Merida boys will stay in Tuscany to compete on “Coppa Sabatini” tomorrow. Sonny Colbrelli joined the team for this competition, that it’s one of his favourite one-day Italian race.
