Giovanni Visconti and Hermann Pernsteiner headline Team Bahrain Merida in Guangxi

We have high expectation for Tour of Guangxi in its 2nd edition. This year, there are 3 flat stages and 3 hilly stages in 6 days, pretty much the same as it’s last edition. With 5 of them finished in bunch sprint, TOG is definitely a good chance for sprinters to finish their season with glory, while the main focus for GC contenders will be stage 4. Finishing at Mashan Nongla Scenic Spot (443m) as a cat.1 climb, it would be the decisive stage for general classification.

From Rik Verbrugghe, our sports director: “Pernsteiner and Visconti will be our leaders for GC, I’m sure that the Asian riders will be motivated for this race and let’s try to do our best. We will evaluate day by day for the stage win or breakaway. In case of sprint, depending on the situation, Arashiro or Visconti will be our sprinter. Let’s have a good race, and team spirit is the key of success.”

“I am really excited about Tour of Guangxi. We have a strong team with riders for all kind of stages. For sure I will concentrate on stage 4, the only mountain top finish of the race. Together with Giovanni we have some cards to play for a high GC result. Giovanni is in great shape and also I secured a good shape after my crash at Vuelta, so we can start to China with good sensations,” says Hermann Pernsteiner, our Austrian leader.

From 16th to 21st October, the 6-day race marks the end of 2018 UCI World Tour. With full attendance of 18 WorldTeam, this is also road race cycling in its highest level in China. Surely we will enjoy Guangxi with its natural scenery, warmly weather and friendly people in this race.
