Gap expanded to 35 seconds

Chaâtel-Guyon, Tuesday 6th March – The longest rather flat stage with a cat 3 climb 20 km before the finish line which expanded the gap in the GC standings for Gorka Izagirre to 35 seconds.

»It was not a real climb stage. We expected that the last climb will bring the decision but it was rather the opposite. Most of the leaders were together when Sanchez escaped. Our team made a good job altogether today but we will have to improve in the further climbing stages,« commented after the race Sports Director Harald Morscher.

Ion Izagirre was fighting tough on the king of the mountain where he escaped with another few riders in front and then he kept the head of the peloton but he couldn’t keep the position on the downhill. »Tomorrow’s chrono race is very promising. We look forward to it,« said Ion after the race.
