Dwars Door Vlaanderen

Roselare- Waregem (180.1km)

Waregem (Belgium), March 28th – A tough day on the cobbles of the Dwars Door Vlaanderen has seen another good performance of our Heinrich Haussler, whose shape is increasing day after day.

“I have good legs and I wanted to invent something before the attacks of the big” says Heino, 23rd in Waregem, finishing in the third group, 2’42” behind the solo winner Lampaert, who won his second consecutive Dwars after a late attack from a 5-man group, with Teunissen second and Vanmarcke third.

“I tried on the Stationberg, but it was not enough to make the difference” continues the Australian rider “I feel that I still miss something to be 100% competitive, but it was a super tough day”.

“ Yes, it was a very hard race” confirms Team BAHRAIN MERIDA Sports Director Rik Verbrugghe “It was difficult even for the breakaway to go clear. The bad weather with heavy rain and low temperatures influenced the result for sure. We can be happy for the good race of Haussler. Maybe he wasted energies, causing him to lose contact with the best in the final”

Haussler with Bozic and Koren, were the only Bahrain Merida riders to finish in Waregem. Unlucky day for Pibernik who hit the deck three times, but with any serious consequences and Cortina: “I tried to go into the break, but then I managed to stay with the first group. I’m feeling better compared to Harelbeke. I’m growing and I hope that Tour of Flanders will turn out to be a good race for me and the team”

Precisely the cobbles of “De Ronde” will be the next race for BAHRAIN MERIDA boys on Sunday.
