Domenico is one of the most experienced rider of Team Bahrain Merida, having rode 17 Grand Tours so far. A talented climber that excited Bahrain Merida supporters at 2018 Giro d’Italia and Tour of the Alps, where he finished 5th and 2nd overall. Among the other best results with TBM there are the bronze medal at the Italian National Championships, a 3rd at a Giro d’Italia stage, a 5th place a the Liège and the podium at Giro della Toscana (3rd). He has 13 wins in his pro career, including a Giro d’Italia and a Tour de Suisse stage.

2017 season was one of the best in his career, with impressive results. He finished 3rd overall at Tour of Alps, 4th at Tour of Swiss, 6th at Giro d’Italia, 6th at Tour de Pologne, 9th at Abu Dhabi Tour and 10th at Tirreno-Adriatico. He proved his excellent physical form at the Vuelta as well. He has many significant results to show in his career but results from last year particularly convinced BAHRAIN MERIDA management to sign him and give him the chance to be one of the leaders in 2018 and 2019 as well as supporting his new team-mates in BAHRAIN MERIDA Team.

Pozzovivo has also a degree in economics and his high education has earned him the nickname “Dr. Pozzovivo” in the peloton.

He is an extremely dedicated and hard worker and a true professional in all areas as well as a very ambitious rider. On top of this he is a team player that is always willing to work and support others at the same time he is considered to be one of our teams leaders who will be given the opportunity to have his own space in many important races.
