After the rest day and recovery at Giro 101, the mail topic of TBM was to refresh the team and Domenico Pozzovivo for the upcoming ITT stage and for the last week of Giro d’Italia.

The ITT started and finished within urban areas of Trento. The route was bumpy, and mainly straight part along the Adige river. The stage went furter on wide, well-paved and mostly straight streets (with just a few bends);

only narrow at  few points while crossing urban areas. Before the second timekeeping point, there was a short climb followed by a short descent and a technical bend, lead back onto straight roads all the way to the finish. The final kilometers of the routerolled past the Adige river and reaches Rovereto. The roads were narrower here, and a number of 90-degree bends lead into wider avenues, heading for the finish. The home straight (570m) is on 6.5m-wide asphalt road.

The Australian, was fastest at each intermediate check point and in final time  of 40:00, the runner up was Tony Martin (Katusha-Alpecin) and Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) got to the third place, respectively.

The Maglia rosa leader Simon Yates (Mitchelton Scott) crossed the finish line with a time of 41:37 to limit his loses against defending champion Dumoulin. No matter he finished on 22nd place, he kept 1 minute and 15 seconds ahead of Dumoulin.

Domenico Pozzovivo kept the third overall position by getting to 33rd place today by 2 minutes and 20 seconds behind Rohan Dennis. This was enough to keep the third position and +3:11 behind Yates in overall what gives Domenico Pozzovivo right to look ahead towards the upcoming mountain stages with high ambitions.
