Cortina sprints to third place at GP de Montreal

Montreal, September 15, 2019 – “It’s my second important result of the season – comments Ivan Garcia Cortina, today 3rd at the GP Cycliste de Montreal – after the victory in the Tour of California last May and, of course, I’m really happy”.

“During the last lap, I lost a few meters from the front and made a great effort to get back in, but then in the sprint I still had a good leg. After the race in Plouay two weeks ago, I trained well at my home in Andorra and already I had a good feeling during the race last Friday and today I felt really good”.

After a long 5 riders breakaway, the race came alive in the last three laps of the city circuit and at the end the Olympic champion Greg Van Avarmaet won the second Canadian race beating the Italian Diego Ulissi.

SD Gorazd Stangelj is also satisfied: “After the opaque race last Friday, we wanted to be protagonists in this second race here in Canada. The team worked very well all day long also when the race become increasingly selective. Ivan was brilliant in the last kilometers and at the sprint was only beaten by a great champion like Van Avarmaet ”.
