Qinzhou, Wednesday 17th October – From Beihai to another seaport, stage 2 is once again a flat stage at 145.5km finishing in the circuit (18.5km*2) in Qinzhou, where riders will cross the finish line for 3 times.

Heavy rain drenched the riders from the beginning of the day, it turned out to be a tough day. Chun-Kai Feng joined the 5-man breakaway and once took the lead more than 2 minutes; however, the bunch was controlled by the sprinter team who meant to end this stage with a bunch sprint. Yukiya Arashiro finished 17th today.

“First, we will try to join the breakaway, then we help Yukiya in the final. We work basically like this except for the GC day in stage 4. I was lucky to follow Andriy Grivko(Astana) and made it in the breakaway. It was difficult because of the ups and downs also the rainy condition. I tried also in the intermediate sprint for time bonus, which we need it for the ranking of the team, but I did not get it in the fight.”

Our sports director Rik Verbrugghe concluded, “Pretty easy stage, flat, but difficult to the weather condition today. Raining like quite all day. The first hour was dry, then all day rain, so it made the race a little bit more dangerous for the riders. But in the end, from our team, everybody stayed safe in the peloton, no problem today. We are expecting after the mountain stage that we can show the jersey. And we had today Feng in the breakaway, which was good for the image of the team.”

Stage 2 Tour of Guangxi was dominated by Pascal Ackermann(Bora–Hansgrohe) out of the fast men.
