Plouay > Plouay 248.1km. Hilly.

This year’s course revealed itself to be even harder than expected. The demanding route stretched the peloton after the day’s breakaway was caught. Team Bahrain Merida riders suffered on the continuous up and down and only Matej Mohorič and Ivan Cortina managed to stay with the group of about 40 riders, that split in half with 25km to go. Jan Tratnik was with his teammates too, but due to a puncture on the second gravel sector, was then forced to abandon. On this very selective course, Cortina dropped with 20km to go, while Mohorič tried to stay with the best even if he didn’t feel good. With 10km to go the decisive move of three riders that attacked and managed to lead it home. The Belgian Sep Vanmarcke soloed to win, with Benoot second and Haig third in three-up sprint from the breakaway.
Team Bahrain Merida best-placed rider was Matej Mohorič, who was able to finish just outside the top ten (11th, +28”) even if he had a bad day due to sickness.
