Bonifazio sprints to 6th place in Katowice

Katowice, August 5th2018 – Today’s very fast stage from Taragowskie Gory to Katowice was 156km long and very technical as there was lots of twists and turns on small street roads. Breakaway of 3 was controlled the whole way, sometimes peloton even played with them, taking time and giving them time back, but last lap of 20km was when they turned the speed to maximum. Last 10 km were very hectic and many teams were leading the race including us. Bole, Agnoli and Padun kept Bonifazio safe and delivered him for the final km to the front of the peloton and Niccolo pushed hard to make this sprint count more then yesterdays finishing 6th.

Tristan Hoffman said: “It was early break as yesterday, sprinter’s teams kept the tempo behind the breakaway. Our riders pretty much were in good positions despite many turns they stayed out of trouble. In the sprint it is always chaos as everyone is pushing for position, and Bonifazio finished 6th. The other teammates put him in good position for the final sprint. It’s good to see them up there fighting for good results.” Asked about the progress of Bonifazio, from yesterday’s 14thto todays 7th, what is expected tomorrow, Hoffman said: “If he makes same progression for tomorrow it would be great. Everything is possible. We have to be realistic as there are some really strong sprinters here, but Bonifazio showed in the past that he can be podium sprinter. Team will give everything tomorrow and then after that it will be more hilly stretches so tomorrow is last day for sprinters”

Tomorrow’s stage of 139km connects two football stadiums in the cities of Chorzov and Zabrze.
