Bonifazio sixth in the rain
“I chose to be on Peter Sagan’s wheel – says Niccolò Bonifazio, today sixth on the Rzeszow wet and slippery finish – but I missed something in the sprint last few meters. ”
“This is my third time in the Top Ten – explains the Italian rider – and I’m also third in the Sprinter Classification. All in all, I’m happy with my performance even though I missed the win “.
The victory went to Dutchman Danny Van Poppel with Sagan always in yellow leader jersey. Vincenzo Nibali has gained three positions in GC and is now ninth with a 39” gap from the leadership.
Tomorrow the Tour de Pologne enters in the decisive phase. Giovanni Visconti presents the last two stages of this 2017 edition. “Tomorrow there are more than 3000 meters of difference in altitude, while Saturday will be a short race of only 130k but the climbs are longer with an uphill finish.”
The sixth stage arrives in Zakopane after 189 kilometers. Athletes will face five first-class climbs with a maximum slope of 18%.
