BinckBank Tour

August 12th – 18th

Den Haag > Den Haag, 8.4km. Individual Time Trial.

Today’s Individual Time Trial took place in the center of Den Haag and it was only 8.3 km short. It had few technical corners but it was all flat and although it was windy, the race happened between the buildings, so the wind didn’t play a big part. No crashes today. Our aim was for Cortina to do the best TT that he can and keep him in top 5 for tomorrow’s stage where the stage fits his style more.
Ivan was happy with his performance: “More or less I’m happy. My final average speed was 51.5, and I think that is the good speed with all the corners on the road. I’m ready for tomorrow’s stage, I’ll try to stay in front and fight.”
David Bailey, Head of Performance said: “Cortina did a good time trial, it was only a short time trial, less than 10 minutes, so all the top guys only lost or gained 5 or 10 seconds. He did a really good time trial. His position in GC is good, as there are very small gaps between top guys. For sure tomorrow will be a key stage on the course that suits him. We carry on and we are in a good position to do a good result tomorrow”.
