Blankenberge>Ardooie, 169.1km. Bunch sprint.

The weather was a bit more favourable for the riders, with showers only happening at the first 50 km. The wind wasn’t a factor either today nor the cobblestone road. The small town on the North Sea – Blankenberge was the starting point of the 169km course. The finish in Ardooie includes lap circuit of 16.5km. From the start 6 riders went in the break wich peloton controlled, and similar as yesterday, only pulled back under 10km to go.

As Valerio Agnoli abandoned the race yesterday because of sickness, today we started with 6 riders, but that didn’t stop us to be aggressive and always in the first third of the peloton.
Cortina and Bole were leading the peloton 4.5km before a big turn where it was important to have a great position for the sprint. Next few corners at 1.5 and 1.2 were crucial but Sieberg and Bauhaus exit those corners around 20th place which wasn’t enough to get Bauhaus in the position to fight for the win, but he managed to to get to 7th place.

Tristan Hoffman: “The wind was more or less the same, but with only one section of cobblestone, no crashes or flat tires, the race was not as hectic as yesterday. In the final, we put all the support for the Phil. The boys did everything they could. The key was to be well-positioned in the last corner, but that is not easy and especially in the races like this where you have many fast guys that will fight. It’s a shame, as in that right corner we needed to be in the front because it was a narrow road… Tomorrow is a new day and we’ll try again”.
