Almadén, 1st September 2018 – The eighth stage gives TBM a double Top Ten with the team leader Ion Izagirre 4th and the young Ivan Garcia Cortina in 9th position.

“It was hard to think of winning – says Ion Izagirre – with a finish like this and riders like Alejandro Valverde and Peter Sagan, but at the last roundabout I was in a good position and so I tried to make the sprint”.

“A result that confirms me – still the Basque runner – the good feelings of these days. Tomorrow it will be an important stage that will probably say that it will not be able to win this Vuelta “.

Another Top Ten for Ivan Garcia Cortina: “It was a strange day. I did not feel super for most of the race but then in the final I recovered and when I saw Rafal Maika, I took his wheel and with 300 meters to go I attacked. Another good race but I’m sure I can do even better “.

Record heat on the roads of Castile-Mancia. Neering 40 degrees and some riders have suffered. Among these, our Mark Padun who said: “in the end I had a big headache because of the strong temperature; I was afraid of falling so I preferred to stay in the back of the peloton”.
