March 25th – 31st

SUNDAY, 31 MAR 2019

Barcelona (Montjuïc) – Barcelona (Montjuïc), 143.1km. Hilly.

Hermann Pernsteiner was Bahrain Merida best-placed rider on the exciting final stage, that featured eight laps of the traditional Montjuïc Park circuit, with the 3.3km long ascent (average gradient of 5.2% and a maximum of 8%). “He took 17th place and he stayed with the first group – including big names – until the last lap. He showed good abilities for the future. Of course if he will improve positioning in the group we can expect better GC results” Sports Director Vladimir Miholjević comments “Today’s stage was characterized by a big crash with four laps to the finish. Damiano Caruso was involved and we stopped Antonio Nibali and Grega Bole to help him to coming back, but the pace was too high in last four laps, so it was impossible. Fortunately any of our riders suffered serious injuries. We’re quite happy with the whole week. The condition of our riders is growing and we can expect nice things on upcoming races”.
Hermann Pernsteiner was also the best-placed in the general classification (14th), with also Caruso (19th) in the top 20.
