Visconti placed 24th Santos Tour Down Under stage 2
Wednesday, 18th January – Italian rider fights for Bahrain-Merida at the finish of Paracombe
After the sharp descent on Norton Summit, BAHRAIN MERIDA still have 6 riders in the big bunch. Our Visco finished 24th at the mountain top finish Paracombe, he is now 45 seconds behind the ochre Jersey on the general classification.
“The team worked very very very good,” said Giovanni Visconti after stage 2 finish. “We are at the first race, it’s not so simple. For today, the team was very good. I tried in the final, I felt good, but not so good for stage with our first stand, because you have to stay at the top of the condition. I tried it, and it’s important for the teamwork today.”
Our Sports Director Phillipe Mauduit continued: “Today was a great teamwork again. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the leg to send our top riders top on the finish line, but we have tried, I saw good spirits, which is the most important. We are only in the mid-January, the season is still long, the boys are on their way, I’m really satisfied with the team spirits.”
The upcoming stage 3 of Tour Down Under starts from Glenelg. While the riders riding southward to the finish line Victor Harbor, we have a great chance to see echelon caused by the coastal winds, which could be a crucial issue for the final result. Riders with the fastest legs will once again contested with a sprint finish.
