Good start for Team BAHRAIN MERIDA riders at the National Championships. All our three riders competing in the Individual time trial took a medal today.

In Spain the Izagirre brothers achieved both the podium with an outstanding performance on the 37.5km undulating route in Vall d’Alba. Gorka second and Ion third, respectively 37” and 38” down on winner Jonathan Castroviejo, who claimed the Spanish National time trial title for the fourth time, completing the demanding circuit in 47’46”. “He is super strong in this moment, but my brother and I did a good time trial as well” comments Ion Izagirre “We had good feelings and we are looking forward to the road race”.

Ramunas Navardauskas took second place in the Individual Time Trial and won silver Lithuanian National Championships, that took place today on a 33km course in Endriejavas (Lithuania).

“I’m very happy with my result” says Team BAHRAIN MERIDA rider “I missed the Individual Time Trial for two years, so it’s nice to be back taking a medal. It wasn’t easy because it was a very windy day. There has been also rain before the start and on the course strong headwind and backwards too. But I felt good, even if there is still something to improve” concludes the ITT silver medallist who now will focus on the Road Race, scheduled on Sunday.
