Tricky and fast sprint in Rogaška Slatina

  |   Press

Rogaška Slatina, Thursday, June 14th – Second stage was 152,7 km long from Maribor to Rogaška Slatina. It was pretty calm stage but fast stage with a tricky and very fast finish.

TBM riders did a good job during whole stage but unfortunately sprinters finished with a bunch of riders.

Sports director Vladimir Miholjević commented today’s race: » Team Bahrain Merida did a great job throughout the whole day. 1 km before the finish line TBM riders were still together but the final kilometre was a bit tricky. It was slight downhill and with the back wind, sprinters didn’t calculate exactly how much they will need to the finish line. Unfortunately, our sprinter Niccoló was one of them and didn’t have legs to cross the finish as we’ve planned. «

Niccoló Bonifazio said after the race: »I tried to help my teammates today, seen that they gave me always 100% and I helped Borut at the sprint. I wanted to be at my team’s disposal because I wasn’t in a good shape.”
