Nîmes > Nîmes, 177km. Sprint finish.

Nimes’s finish line was one of the last occasions for the sprinters and the peloton’s fast wheels did not let them escape. Australian Caleb Ewan won for the second time in this Tour de France ahead of Italian Elia Viviani and Dutch Dylan Groenewegen.
Out of the Top Ten our Sonny Colbrelli (13th) who in a difficult finale failed to find the right space. “It was a technical sprint with lots of roundabouts and very fast as I also went 70km/h – explains Matej Mohoric – we tried to pilot Sonny but got lost and found a couple of times before the final sprint. At the end, Sonny found himself back and then it was very complicated to be able to reassemble the positions”.
It was a very hot day with temperatures exceeding 37 degrees. “We drank a lot – says Ivan Garcia Cortina – a “bidon” every 30 minutes. Together with Vincenzo, Jan and Damiano we worked in the last 20km to keep Sonny in front and then something went wrong in the finale. Tomorrow the break could go away and I will try to be part of it, I’d like to leave a mark on this Tour”.
