The wind pushes the breakaway. Nibali arrives in the first group

A very fast stage on the Calabrian roads. Pushing forward by a strong wind, the attackers have had the best on the peloton that, maybe, has given too much space – almost 9 minutes – to the breakaway.

The Swiss Silvan Dillier won in Terme Luigiane with Bob Jungels still wearing the pink jersey and our Nibali fourth in the General Classification.

“The breakaway was good for the leaders’ teams – comments Manuele Boaro – we were supposed to be close to Vincenzo for all the route and help him before the final climb. Everything went as expected”.

“It was a wind-driven stage – says sport director Gorazd Štangelj – and it’s the second time the escape manages to arrive. Those who want to win a stage should not give too much space. We have worked well alla day long and tomorrow we expect another challenging race”.

The seventh stage arrives in Alberobello, famous for its “trulli” a conic stone roof house. More than 220 km with the 140 km with on a flat route, a second part of the stage a bit more complicated and the final part undulating and going slightly up.
