The Tour continues with Sonny in the Top Ten
Valence, July 20th, ST13 – Today it wasn’t easy to go to the start without Vincenzo, but the Tour continues and the team wants to leave a strong mark before arriving in Paris.
Today was the classic stage that comes after three days of great efforts. “We started very quiet – Kristijan Koren explained – and immediately a four-riders break went away.
“The peloton controlled the attackers – continued the Slovenian athlete – and then it went to take them back a few kilometers from the finish line. We piloted Sonny in the first positions and then the stage ended with the expected sprint “.
World Champion Peter Sagan won stage and this is his third win in this Tour, with our Colbrelli once again in the Top Ten.
“I wanted to dedicate to Vincenzo a better result than 9th place – said the Italian sprinter – but with 400m to go a rider in front of me he braked and I lost the best position. I’m recovering from the double crash in Roubaix’s stage and I still have no legs to win, but I can certainly do better “.
The fourteenth stage arrives in Mende after 188km. The first part of the route is not particularly difficult, while in the last 50km there are several climbs before the steep ascent of the Côte de la Croix Neuve (3km, 10.2%) just one kilometer to go.
