The queen stage of the Dolomites ends with a draw

It should have been one of the most important stages of this 2017 Giro d’Italia but in the Top riders of the race come together on the finish line in Ortisei.

“Together with Nairo – says Vincenzo Nibali – we tried to surprise the pink jersey but Dumoulin responded well. Tomorrow there is another stage where we can attack and we will try again. “

The American Tejay Van Garderen won the 18th stage preceding just over a minute the leaders of General Classification, always led by Dutchman Dumoulin.

“We ran very well – observes coach Paolo Slongo – and we gave hard time to the pink jersey. In the next two stages we will try again to attach his leaadership”. With this good performance, Team Bahrain Merida went up second in the team general ranking.

The 19th stage it’s a high mountain race with a long flat drag in the final part of the ruote before the closing climb. The peloton will climb up Passo di Monte Croce Comelico and the Sella Chianzutan before the long descent to Maniago. The stage will finish at the top of Piancavallo after a 15 k climb with a maximum slope around 14%.
