Team Bahrain Merida ready for the 20th Tour of Japan

The 20th Tour of Japan is going to launch at Sakai City from 21st May. 16 teams in total are joining the biggest annual event in Japan, including 8 Japanese team and the other 8 teams overseas. Team Bahrain-Merida is the only World Tour team in 2017 edition.


Tour of Japan is an 8 days stage race, heading from SAKAI stage all the way east to TOKYO stage, and signature FUJISAN stage will be the best challenge for climbers at stage 6. The distance and altitude of 2017 Tour of Japan will be 743.75 kilometers and 12,291 meters.


“As most of our riders are visiting Japan for the first time, we are full of excitement, and surely looking forward to some good results,” says our Sports Director Tristan Hoffman.


We have a strong Slovenian climber Domen Novak, Ivan Garcia Cortina and David Per have great potential on sprinter’s stage, with Chun Kai Feng and Ion Ander Insausti looking for the chances in the breakaway, this young and promising squad from will definitely impress the Japanese fans by their performance.
