TDF – ST1 Bruxelles-Bruxelles (194.5km)

The TBM’s adventure at the 2019 Tour de France begins with the Sonny Colbrelli 5th place. “It was a very tight sprint – explains the Italian rider – that I started following my teammate Ivan Cortina with 600m to go. When I saw Peter Sagan starting I went behind him and at 200 meters from the finish I felt my legs heavy and others riders passed me. I think it’s a good start and I’ll try again on Monday. ”

“The boys all had a good race and in the final they helped Sonny find the best position for the sprint – commented SD Gorazd Stangelj – it was a special one but still a 5th place to start is a good result. Unfortunately, Damiano Caruso and Matej Mohoric crashed in two different moments and we hope it is nothing serious in view of tomorrow’s important TTT ”.

The young Dutch Mike Teunissen won the stage and is also the first yellow jersey of this edition.

Tomorrow is scheduled at team time trial of 27.6 kilometers across the wide and straight boulevards in Brussels. The route is perfect to produce top speeds and the last 1.5 kilometers are a false flat to the line.
