Successful surgery for Borut Božič
Thursday, April 12, 2018 – After yesterday’s unfortunate crash on Brabantse Pijl race, our rider Borut Božič has undergone a surgery at Orthopedic Department of San Gerardo Hospital. The surgery went well and Božič is expected to recover soon.
Yesterday’s Brabantse Pijl was successful for the BAHRAIN MERIDA Team but not so lucky for one of our riders, Borut Božič, who crashed 100 km into the race. He broke his collar bone and was immediately driven to the near hospital, accompanied by the team doctor, dr. Luca Pollastri. This early morning Božič has undergone surgery to reduce the fracture of the collarbone.
Dr. Pollastri, who stayed with the rider the whole time, commented after surgery: “Everything went well and he is fine so far. During the next few hours he will stay in the hospital for observation, but in a few days he will able to perform training on rollers and by the end of next week it is possible he will return on the roads,” is optimistic dr. Pollastri. He is also very grateful to colleagues of Orthopedic Department of San Gerardo Hospital for their professionalism and availability they’ve shown while treating our rider.
Božič was supposed to be in the line-up for the Tour of Croatia that starts at the beginning of next week, but of course he won’t be able to join his teammates this time. We all at BAHRAIN MERIDA Team wish our always smiling rider a fast recovery and can’t wait for him to join us on the roads again.
