A flat stage 8 with 120 km made out of five and a half laps of 21 km circuits at the Ticino river valley.

Todays’ stage was ment to be suitable for Sonny Colbrelli and at the TBM bus meeting the strategy was clear to bring up Sonny to a good position for his sprint and try to assist Sonny Colbrelli to conclude a second victory at Tour de Suisse.

At the end Arnaud Demare (Groupama FDJ) won todays’ penultimate stage. Fernando Gaviria (Quick Step Floors) was the runner up and Alexander Ksristoff (UAE-Team Emirates) third.

Sonny Colbrelli hasn’t shown dissapointement after taking 8th place today and gave his thoughts after the stage: “It was a hard sprint today. Very long and high-speed sprint. Important to come safe to the finish and thanks to may teammates for their support as usual. It’s a good result ahead to next races. I can still improve ahead of Tour de France and I’m satisfied with my Tour de Suisse. I did a good training here”.

Ion Izagirre did not keep the top 10 position at the GC, but Ion is very focused to conclude a good result at the ITT at the last stage of Tour de Suisse tomorrow.
