San Juan, Monday 22nd January – Kanstantsin Siutsou arrived in the first small group and is now only 10 seconds away from the new GC leader the Costa Rican Roman Villalobos, who won on the insidious finish of Peri Lago Punta Negra.

“The goal was to manage this difficult stage in the best way – says the Belarusian rider – even if on the final climb I wanted to anticipate my rivals but I found myself closed at the last curve”.

Tomorrow is the 14.4 km individual time trial along the San Juan ring road. Last year, the winner was our Ramunas Navardauskas who beat all the opponents on a route that is not entirely flat.

“It will be a particular ITT because you can not use time trial bikes but only road bikes – explains – and this will help those riders who are not time trials specialists. The route has some slightly uphill sections and it will be decisive to be able to develop as much speed as possible “.

“We are getting back to normal – Head of Performance Paolo Slongo analyze today stage – Antonio Nibali and Ivan Cortina have done well and this means that they have fully recovered. Siutsou did what he had to do. He is an expert athlete and our leader for the general classification that’s why he did not want to exaggerate on the ITT’s eve”.
