San Juan, Wednesday 24th January – A good fifth place for Niccolò Bonifazio in Villa San Agustin’s bunch sprint with Kanstantsin Siutsou who recovers three positions in the overall standings and is now 6th with still at 43″ gap from the race leader Filippo Ganna.

“It was the longest stage in the program – says the Belarussian rider – and I was thinking it would be quieter. The final, however, was very nervous with some falls. I recovered some positions and now I’m waiting for the uphill finish on friday. I’m not 100% and so I do not know where I can get but what I can say that that day after day I always doing better”.

“What a shame – Bonifazio analyzes his sprint – I was about to take the Penuchi’s wheel but I was severely hampered by another rider and so I lost the right moment. It’s not a result to be thrown away, but I would like to come back from Argentina with a victory “.

Tomorrow will be a rest day. The Vuelta San Juan will resume on Friday with the “Queen” stage of this 2018 edition. The peloton will have to reach the 2,560 meters of the Alto Colorado at the end of a climb of over 15 km with an average gradient of 4.4%.
