Pozzovivo moves into 2nd overall

  |   Press

Jamal Al Akhdhar, Wednesday 20 February – “I’m happy with this 3rd place at the end of the Queen Stage – says Domenico Pozzovivo – I attacked along with Lutsenko also to try to take the fugitive and with 500 meters to go I was still thinking of taking him. When I realized that I would not make it and I only thought about improving my ranking “.

With his today 3rd place atop of Green Mountain, the Italian climbers moves into 2nd overall with a 44s gap from the stage winner and overall leader the Kazakh Alexey Lutsenko.

“After the bad fall in Australia I have not had an easy time and this 2nd place is a kind of reward for the hard work I did during the Teide training camp. My next race will be Paris-Nice and here in Oman I had the answers I was looking for “.

“We gave our all – explains DS Alberto Volpi – and the Domenico’s overall ranking is undoubtedly a good result. With three stage wins, Lutsenko demonstrated here to be the strongest runner of this edition. Even today the team has worked very well and this is a good sign for the future. And tomorrow, last stage, our task will be to defend Domenico’s position”.
