Tour de Suisse

Arosa, June 15th–  Stage 7 – Eschenbach/Atzmännig – Arosa – 170.5 km

The Kings’ stage 7 of Tour de Suisse 2018. to Arosa and the final HC summit and the most demanding climb at this years’ edition of the Swiss race was definately the show of Nairo Quintana (Movistar). He proved his great form and attacked alone at the Arosa climb and concluded an impressive solo victory.

Richie Porte (BMC) kept his leaders’ jersey getting to ahead of Quintana for 17 seconds. It is definitely going to be interesting, who will celebrate after the last ITT in Belinzona after the ITT on Sunday.

Gorka Izagirre and Mark Padun were in the breakaway with 25 more riders, but they had to go turn back to try to give a push-up to Ion Izagirre. Unfortunately, this mission didn’t have success today.

Ion Izagirre said shortly after the stage; «Well it was not a good day for me. My team was perfect, we had Gorka and Mark in the breakaway. At the end at the last climb I was not feeling good and let me just thank to all my teammates, to Krisrtijan Koren and Sonny Colbrelli that were covering me all the day. Now lets’ recover. It was not a perfect day for me but we will immediately focus to tomorrows’ stage and and to the last ITT stage on Sunday”.
