Ramūnas Navardauskas

Lietuva – Lithuania
77 kg
190 cm

The Lithuanian rider is back after heart surgery to correct a cardiac arrhythmia. Ramunas is one of the most important riders for our team roster and we at Bahrain Merida have definitely felt his missed presence at many races in 2017.
Early in the season Navardauskas was the rider who took the first ever victory for our team, winning the Individual Time Trial on Stage 3 of the Vuelta San Juan.

After a difficult year Ramunas is looking forward to his return to racing. He is one of the hardest workers in the peloton, an all rounder rider, that will stand next to his captain, without renouncing to enter in the good breakaway.

In his career he had been the first Lithuanian rider to wear the Giro d’iItalia pink jersey. It happened in the 2012 edition when the young athlete from Šilalė, after a good sixth place in the opening individual time trial, won the team time trial with his Garmin-Barracuda. It was his second professional season after having ridden in teams of his country and the French La Pomme Marseille. His most important victory of that period was the Liège-Bastogne-Liège for “Espoirs” won in 2010. Along with numerous national titles on the road and time trial, in 2013 Ramūnas Navardauskas won a stage in the Giro d’Italia and another stage in the Tour de Romandie. In 2105, he got another great success by winning the 19th stage of the Tour de France. In the same year, he won the Circuit de la Sarthe for the second consecutive year. In 2016, with the Cannondale-Drapac’s jersey did various placings both in the Giro and in Tour de France, and he won again the national road championship.
