London Surrey Classic preview

  |   Press

London, July 27th, 2018. – Although everyone will be focused on Champs-Élysées this Sunday, 6th edition of London – Surrey Classic will offer another great race for cycling fans. What once started as a test race for London Olympic Road race is now permanent race in World Tour schedule. The 187km race starts from the Horse Guards, close to Buckingham Palace, and goes through Surrey Hills with 5 ‘category 2’ climbs only to come back to London for iconic finish at The Mall. This is the race where breakaway could make it to the end, but also where sprinters might get their chance.

We are sending a team that can answer all challenges. Our Sports Director Alberto Volpi was open when talking about our race plan: “If the race goes as expected it will be bunch sprint, and we have Niccolò Bonifazio as our main sprinter while there is also Ivan Cortina as our back up option. But in the case of a breakaway, we have Grega Bole who is experienced in that role. Other riders will be helpers in both cases, for long breakaway or for final sprint. I expect only the best from all of our riders.”

Team Bahrain Merida line-up: Valerio Agnoli, Manuele Boaro, Grega Bole, Niccolò Bonifazio, Ivan Cortina, Ramunas Navardauskas and David Per.
