Liège – Liège, 256km. Hilly.

Strong ride of Bahrain Merida team on a very cold and rainy Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Vincenzo Nibali and Dylan Teuns finished in the top ten, respectively in 8th and 9th place.
“We raced really good” Team Sports Director Rik Verbrugghe says “Vincenzo and Dylan missed just a little bit to be there in front to can fight for the win, but they took the top ten. I think the way we rode today we can be satisfied. Ok, the strongest today was Fuglsang, but we saw a very strong Bahrain Merida boys too”.
This is a very fast finale, completely different compared to the past. With this redesigned final part, riders shoulf attack inevitably earlier. So did today’s winner Jakob Fuglsgang who took a solo win in the heart of Liège.
“I was feeling good, but there was who was feeling better than me” Team captain Vincenzo Nibali comments talking about the winner “I missed the 250km of race. The key was the Roche aux Faucons. It was important to be at the front there. We were there, but Fuglsang speeder up and it was impossible to close the gap with such a finish.
The team was perfect, we worked very well. In the finale we were Dylan and me. We knew that there were riders faster than us”.
