“I am very happy, this is our goal to take one stage win in Japan,” said our stage winner Jon Ander Insausti on the podium. Today is our day, not only did we take the stage victory in Tokyo, but also keep the white jersey for Domen Novak as the best young rider!

Earlier today, Jon was in the 11-man breakaway. Coming to the finish, the peloton was chasing hard, but they never made it to catch them. Jon attacked in the final 3 kilometers, he was caught once by Takayuki Abe, then out-sprinted his rival at the finish line. It was an impressive stage win for Team Bahrain-Merida.

“With a neo-professional, it is nice to do it like this. We are super happy with this result.” The young squad works hard since day 1, and they reached their goal at the last stage TOJ, our sports director Tristan Hoffman happy for our 8 days race journey finished with great result.
