Valdeblore La Colmiane, Saturday 10th March – Incredible team work for Team Bahrain Merida on Stage 7.

»The team did an incredible job for us today. Without their support we would not been able to achieve those great results today,« commented the two extremely happy Izaguirre brothers. »We knew Yates would go into attack and I have followed him on the first attack. 500 m before the finish line he attacked again and unfortunately I was not able to follow him this time. I lacked of a bit of energy and than also BMC rider overtook me at the finish but it was altogether a very good performance and a good day for TBM. I can’t wait for tomorrow. It will be thrilling. Tutta forza!« smiled Ion already thinking about each meter of tomorrow’s very hard but short 110km stage which will reveal the GC winner.

»We had foreseen that scenario in the morning meeting but the team did far more than what we planned. The brothers were again very strong. I expected Ion would be able to fight till the end but he was a bit short for those 500m where Yates took the lead,« said Sports Director Harald Morscher after the stage.

»The speed was full from start to finish, the whole 175km. The roads were narrow all the way and there was no straight road not even for 300m. 60 km to the finish line the peloton split into 3 – 4 groups. Our riders were in front then and took good positions. We are obviously very satisfied with the final result today,« said a proud Head of Sport Director Gorazd Štangelj.
