Ivan Cortina once more in the stage Top Ten

Bermillo de Sayago, September 4th 2018 – Another Top Ten for Ivan Garcia Cortina on the finish line of the 10th stage. The talented Spanish rider arrived 7th in the sprint won, for the second time here at La Vuelta, by the Italian Elia Viviani.

“The wind was behind the peloton – explains Ivan – and maybe I was wrong to use the 53 instead of 55 because the sprint was very fast. I recovered very well yesterday on the rest day so much that on the last climb I went “easy”. It’s the my third Top Ten but, as I repeat again, I would like to do even better “.

No change in the overall standings with Simon Yates always wearing the red jersey and our Ion Izagirre in 5th position with 17” from the leadership

“In these stages for sprinters – says Ion – it’s really important to be covered helped by the team. Like this you can save more energy possible before the big climbs of the next weekend. All the top riders do the same thing and today the sprint was the only possible ending. For this reason, the pace has been quiet all day except for the last 20 kilometers “.

Sport Director Vladimir Mihoiljevic: “It was the classic “regular” stage controlled by the sprinters teams while the various leaders were quiet in the middle of the bunch. Our guys have lived a day without any particular problems and tomorrow we expect a more demanding race”.

Tomorrow stage number 11 from Mombuey to Ribeira Sacra (207km). Challenging route with lots of ups and downs and a second category climb. Ideal route for a long breakaway?
