Sarnano Sassotetto, 10th March 2018 – “I could dare more – says Domenico Pozzovivo, today 12th with only 6” from the stage winner the Spaniard Mikel Landa – but I thought that Team Sky would have taken over the fugitives. The Geraint Thomas’s mechanical  problem also ruined my plans and it was too late to try to retake the attackers . “

Domenico is now 10th in the overall standings with a 41” gap from the new race leader the Italian Damiano Caruso,

“I like my “Tirreno”- still the Italian rider – I have not done a good Abu Dhabi Tour but here I am proving to have now a good condition. I hope I can improve my ranking by doing a solid time trial next Tuesday“.

Ramunas Navardauskas is also recovering: “Every stage i feel better and better; I still need hard training. My next will be “Tour of Romandie at the end of April”.

Sport director Rik Verbrugghe returns to today’s stage: “It was a busy day after yesterday’s stage. Even today, 220 kilometers and a lot of climbing; at the beginning of the season it is an important effort. The team worked well and our two leaders arrived with the best group. Tomorrow I expect a finish for finisseur suitable for example to our Sonny “.

The fifth one will be a “wall climbing stage”. The route begins on mild descents all the way to the first steep climbs (“muri” in Italian). After almost 70 km, the route reaches the seafront before retuning backcountry for the last climbs. The final kilometres area a mix of climbs and descents with the Muro di Filottrano (gradients nearing 16%) to be covered three times overall.
